First, a pair of blissful honeymooners traveling by train. Then, a year later, the same coach carrying the man to his place of execution. Although it seems hopeless, there are two wild cards on board: the man's wife and a terminally ill reporter.
(The source DVD was somewhat botched. I'm guessing that the video had been rescaled vertically without allowing for interlacing.)

Old Time Chivalry
I found the first 12 minutes unremarkable - simply building the story, like most movies. Perhaps the reviewer requires slam-bang action every minute to eb entertained.
The plot would have had more of the intended irony had there been a few minutes devoted earlier to the role played by the reporter in assuring the conviction.
All-in-all, I enjoyed the flick, but, then, I prefer most 30s-40s movies to modern movies because the former don't rely on vulgarity and excessive violence and gore to pass for "entertainment."

Good one!
Unlike other reviewers,I found the first twelve minutes to be charming,if a bit old fashioned.
It was a really enjoyable movie, although I thought the cop would have wanted to question the reporter and the wife, directly "after".Ya know? I don't want to say too much more than that,so I don't ruin it for anybody else.

surprising ending
Charming story a bit slow to develop, but well worth the wait. A pair of blissful honeymooners catch a train, then one year later tragedy struck leaving the groom on his way to execution in prison on the very same train with his bride following. Fate has a way of stepping in and a terminally ill reporter intimately familiar with the case gives the lucky couple a second chance at life. Also on the train to add to the story an older gentleman (politician?) cheating on his wife with an underage hooker and the prospect of facing the Mann act which prohibits transporting underage girls across state lines.

What a surprise delight that was!
I almost turned it off 7 minutes in and then again at about 10 minutes in. If you can make it past minute 12 - you will be rewarded.
This is a great movie! Highly recommended!
